Annette Kearney

Annette lives and works in Portland Maine on the Eastern seaboard of the United States. She uses many materials in her work including oil, acrylics, encaustics and 3-D mixed media sculptures. Her 3-D sculptures are made of layers of mylar and watercolour paper on which she has painted or marked in acrylics and pen. They are explosions of colour and texture, and shapes. Her encaustic work involves painting layers of heated coloured wax onto panels. As Annette says, "my process involves the intuitive interchange between myself and the work. The art itself informs me of the direction I need to take. As the work progresses, the strength of each piece depends on my ability to observe and achieve balance. I leave the "interpretation or meaning" of the piece to the viewer."
